Our Orange County Psychiatrists are Medical Specialists who have devoted themselves to the diagnosis, prevention, and the treatment of mental disorders. We work with patients who suffer from stress, anxiety, anger management, PTSD, dementia, bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, post partum depression, and many other mental health issues. Unfortunately, many people do not seek out help until their situation becomes extreme, or they need a “quick fix”.

Alejandro Alva, MD, Chief Medical Officer, CEO
Alejandro Alva, MD, is the Founder, Chief Medical officer, and CEO of Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS). He sees psychiatric patients of all ages at the practice’s three offices in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Huntington Beach, California, with a focus on substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment and general psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Alva earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and completed medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. He then returned to California, where he completed his psychiatric residency at the University of California, Irvine.
To keep up with the latest advancements in psychiatric care, Dr. Alva maintains active membership in a number of professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the California Psychiatric Association, as well as multiple others.
He is also a member of several specialty organizations and boards, including the American Board of Forensic Medicine, the American College of Forensic Examiners, and the American Board of Psychopharmacology.
Like most of the PNS staff, Dr. Alva is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish, and bicultural. He believes that it is his duty to reach out to the Latino community as well as the general community. To help him understand the mental health barriers facing different ethnic populations, Dr. Alva is active in the California Hispanic American Medical Association and the American Association of Hispanic Professionals.
Sheena Patel, PA-C, CAQ-Psych, Supervisor of Provider Services
Sheena Patel, PA-C is a Physician Assistant based in Southern California, with over a decade of clinical experience in healthcare.
She received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine and subsequently earned a Master’s Degree in Biology from New York University. Sheena then completed the Physician Assistant Program at Long Island University, graduating with top marks in 2010.
Early in her career, Mrs. Patel’s work experience included Internal Medicine as well as Subspecialty Surgery (Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery, and Trauma Surgery).
For the last 7 years Mrs. Patel has worked solely in the field of Psychiatry at PNS, having found fulfillment in working with her patients to improve their quality of life. She is focused on helping them optimize their mental health, treating a variety of mental illnesses including Depression, Bipolar, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, and Schizophrenia amongst others in addition to Chemical Addiction & Rehabilitation. Mrs. Patel serves patients of all ages, Adult Psychiatry as well as Adolescent Psychiatry.
Mrs. Patel is the Director of Clinical Services and the lead Physician Assistant at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Services (PNS), serving as an integral part of PNS and its management team. Primary offices are located in Costa Mesa and Orange, however Sheena also frequently sees patients at other PNS offices.
Mrs. Patel is involved in the hiring and training of all new Physician Assistants, serving as a mentor and supervisor. She is also involved in coordinating supervision by Medical Doctors at each office.
Alex Mulé, PA-C
Alex Mulé, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant on the team at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists. He treats patients at the practice’s offices in Santa Ana, California.
Alex graduated from Chapman University in Orange, California, with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Master of Science in Health and Strategic Communication. During his time at Chapman, he earned four All-American titles in NCAA water polo, becoming the first student at the university to accomplish this in any sport.
After Chapman, Alex went on to Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California, where he earned a Master of Medical Science degree.
In his work at Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists, Alex helps to interview, assess, and develop treatment plans for patients. He collaborates with Alejandro Alva, MD, and other providers to prescribe and manage medications, and performs various minor medical procedures like injections and blood draws.
Alex is EMT-B, first-aid, and CPR certified. He enjoys working directly with patients and brings a strong sense of compassion and empathy to his work. He looks forward to helping his patients walk down the road to recovery.
Brandon Stutz, PA-C
Brandon Stutz is a board-certified Physician Assistant who works for Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists. Having worked with patients of all ages, Brandon provides care and treatment for adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Brandon is a Southern California native, and finds great pleasure in providing psychiatric services for his community.
Brandon attended San Diego State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in biology. He then worked as a medical scribe for 3 years in 4 separate emergency rooms before attending California Baptist University where he obtained his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Brandon is also an active member of the California Association of Physician Assistants and American Association of Physician Assistants.
Brandon utilizes a holistic approach when treating patients. He believes in treating the mind, body, and soul in order to come up with an individualized treatment plan for each patient. He also believes in developing a strong patient-clinician relationship built on mutual trust, respect, and understanding. Brandon looks forward to meeting and treating you soon!
